Jim Dickson was Frank's neighbor and brother-in-law. He had also served with Frank in the 2nd Kansas Cavalry and had accompanied him on the 1865 Santa Fe Trail drive to Fort Union, New Mexico. At this point he was still single, but would marry Lizzie Cook two years later, in 1872. He died at age 37 and his buried in the Auburn Cemetery.
