Michael Stahl was born in 1813 in Belfast township, in what was then Bedford county, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob Stahl (1780-1854).

Michael and his family appear in the 1850 census for New Harrison, Adams township, in Darke county (above). Frank's full name was Francis Marion, so he's listed as Marion.

Michael Stahl's brother, Simon, and cousin, Jacob, were also living in Adams township at the time. They had all moved out of Pennsylvania at about the same time.
